What resources do communities in schools have for the students at Greenbrier West?
The resources communities in schools have for the students at Greenbrier West are mentoring, tutoring, homework help, and community connections to outside resources. Mrs. O’Dell works with students during the school day and the after-school program and communicates with teachers and counselors to help students stay on track.
Our staff member who works for communities in schools is Rachel Odell she has worked at this school for 3 years and she has worked with communities in schools for 5 years
One of Rachel’s biggest successes while working for Communities in Schools has been watching students that she has worked with make it to graduation and reach their goals
One of Rachel’s biggest failures is probably the fact that she is more on the quiet side. There have been moments when she wished she would have spoken up about something and voiced her thoughts more openly. shes is always working to improve on that!
When a position came open at West, Rachel knew that she wanted the chance to work with high school students to help them overcome challenges and be successful. she didn’t always feel like she had someone that she could go to for help when she attended school here, so she wants students to know that she is here to help however she can.
Rachel Odell chose to work for CIS, which works closely with all those in the education field because she wanted to encourage students, give them the support they need, and help them graduate. she loves to hear from past students who are now in college or have found a good job. her hope for each student that she works with is to finish school and make a good life for themselves.
What is the purpose of community and school
