So this year we have added something new to our school, something for the kids to enjoy and have fun once a month for the last hour of our school days. We call it “Clubs,” where everyone picks something that they would like to do – like board games, outdoor club, SGA, FCA, etc. Most of the kids we have talked to are not a fan of everything; but some had very good opinions on the club that they had gotten. Some kids had made a statement to us that they wish we made better and more interesting clubs to do more in. Some thought that their club was very good, and there were so many things that they get to experience and have memories with.
The first club we have is Cursive Club. One of our students from Greenbrier West said that the teachers give them a packet to do and they learn how to write very pretty. That is something you will be able to keep for the rest of your life; if you work on it now, by the end you will have such a pretty handwriting.
In Honors Society they work on officials, that is a club for the kids that have very good grades and work hard to keep them up. That’s what all of the kids should be working on at our school. The kids that have gotten in this club work very hard and stress so much about getting stuff done and finished as soon as it is given to them.
Cards and Board Games is another club that we have, and the name explains the whole thing: they play board games. The students we asked like it because they are able to talk to friends and play games with them. That can be a very competitive club. The leader of this club, Mr. Lewis, says the kids have been enjoying and giving new ideas of board games that they would like to play.
Mrs. Bell gives us her opinion on the class and she said, “Our club is a national organization for students to get involved with their community and school and she really enjoys it and she believes that the kids enjoy it too.” Mrs. Bowles has the club of Old Time Radio and Jigsaw Puzzles, she says”I like my club because it has historical context, the radio back then was the number one means of news was the old ways of getting information. I play the radio to let the kids see what it was like for their grandparents.”
Mrs. McQuain is in charge of the National Honor Society club and she says,”Its a good quality club that allows students who done well academically and their leadership skills and character it allows them to have a place to come and talk about things to improve the school and ways they can use their community service.”
All of are clubs here are very entertaining and exciting; you will always have something to do.
