So, you Want to Know How to take any Exam Without Any Worries?
It’s no surprise that we can get stressed over a test or an exam we have to take. It is quite understandable that we get stressed, or nervous over not getting a good score, or being in a quite room with nothing to do but answer questions provided. While it may seem impossible to keep your cool during exams or tests, there is actually a way to do so.
In this article, I’ll be going over some simple steps on how to prepare for a test, or exam. Information regarding Semester exams and SAT are listed below.
How do I know if I am taking the Semester Exam?
Students will take the exam if…
- They have a D or an F average in their classes
- They have missed seven or more school days (this includes excused and unexcused absences. Snow days do not count).
- They have seven tardies for a class (If you have seven tardies for ONE class, you only have to take the exam for that specific class)
Students will be exempted from the exam if they have reached the following requirements:
- They must have an A, B, or C average in their classes
- They must miss less than seven school days
- They have less than seven tardies for a class
Exception forms
All students will receive an exemption form. Their forms should consist of the following:
- Names of Classes
- Names of teachers
- Students’ grade percent and letter
- Students’ first Semester Absences
- Teachers’ signatures
This exemption form does NOT determine whether the student will be exempted from the exam; on Friday, January 5, a final exemption, consisting of students’ absences and tardies, list will be posted.
SAT Information
On Wednesday, April 10, all juniors will be taking the SAT test. I wish everyone good luck.
Tips to prepare
1. Study
Studying will help you remember how to do certain problems/questions, so be sure to study.
2. Get a good night’s sleep
Sleep isn’t only a necessity, but it could also help improve your score and cope with your test-taking anxiety and stress.
3. Eat a good breakfast
When your stomach is growling, it could be hard to focus on your exam.
If you eat breakfast at home, a mix of healthy proteins and complex carbohydrates would be a good suggestion. Depending on your personal dietary preferences and needs, some great choices include nuts, eggs, and berries.
Drinking plenty of water would be a good idea too. If possible, bring a water bottle with you on exam day.
4. On exam/test day, answer all of the questions you know first
By answering questions you know first, you have more time to brainstorm on the ones you don’t know.
(Note: this method may not work for all exams and tests; some computer-based exams may not let you skip questions)
5. Self-Talk Matters!
According to Emma Thompson’s Article, “The Stress-Free SAT,” it mentions that students should use positive self-talk before and as you are taking the test; negative self-talk will likely affect your score. Have confidence in yourself!
