The dress code at Greenbrier West high school has been a very vocal discussion. The biggest part of the dress code, and the most enforced is the three B’s : NO Boobs, NO Butt, NO Belly, With the addition of no shoulders, no vulgar language/images on clothing, and no sex, drugs, or anything illegal on clothing. But what do the students have to say about this very strict code.
Out of all the students we had interviewed, the consists was, ” It sucks,” “It’s way too strict,” and “It’s not fair to girls.” Many responses mentioned how girls felt that the dress code didn’t apply to the boys, such as, “Its not fair that boys get to wear whatever they want, but the moment I have a hole in my jeans, I get dress coded.” and, ” I’ve seen boys walk around shirtless, but I get dress coded for having a part of my shoulders showing.” When asked for boys opinions on the matter, most had said the same thing, “I don’t know, I’ve never been dress coded”
On the other side of the argument, some students do think the dress code is in reason, with responses such as, “I think the dress code in fine the way it is, people just need to start wearing more cloths if they don’t want to get in trouble,” and a couple students saying, “Its really not that deep… put more clothes on.”
From the responses we had gotten, the overall consists was that more students think its “To strict” or “Dumb.” Rather than the other response being, “Its OK,” “We need to keep it the way it was.”

The dress code is outdated and sexist. I don’t understand the shoulder restriction…after all, areolas are not on the shoulders. I always dress code the boys…they wear daisy dukes and expose their areolas all the time. It isn’t right.
