The Western conception of magic is rooted in the ancient Judeo-Christian and Greco-Roman heritage. The tradition took further shape in northern Europe during the medieval and early modern period before spreading to other parts of the globe through European exploration and colonialism after 1500. The founding father of modern magic shows is Jean Eugene Robert-Houdin. He took magic from the street onto the stage and into mainstream entertainment. Since then it has become a staple act of the variety show. In 2700 B.C The reputed first known performance of a conjuring effect (balls) was done by the magician Dedi in ancient Egypt. Dedi had done other effects, such as decapitating a bird, then reattaching the head to resurrect it. Magic is an intellectual performing art in which the artist convinces an audience that it has witnessed seemingly impossible feats, using natural means. There is nothing paranormal or supernatural about magic tricks—magicians achieve illusions through practiced. People say they don’t believe in music because they’ve seen so many magic tricks reveal that they aren’t actually magic. Magic can be more than a trick, it can be supernatural magic, it can be a miracle, it can even be how smart someone is. Magic can be considered a baby being born that had a slight chance of making it. A woman who had a low chance of getting pregnant could be considered magic. Magic isn’t always doing something that no one else can do. Magic is turning something impossible into possible. Now not all magic is the same. There is bad magic and good magic, just like there is a good witch and a bad witch. I don’t believe good can always beat bad but it is better to put that in children’s minds that good can in fact beat bad. Not all magic is real though. Like eternal life, immortality, invisibility, or mind reading. Sometimes people seem like they can read minds but in reality they cannot because that is impossible. Now twin telepathy is a bit different. It’s more of knowing your sister like you know yourself. It’s not necessarily magic. Although people find it as magic, it isn’t considered magic. Twins have the power of knowing what the other person is going to say because they were born in the same womb and were in there for 9 months sometimes longer and sometimes shorter; either way they were stuck in the womb together so they seem to run on the same thoughts a lot of the time. Twin telepathy or ESP is more of a genetic thing as well. A lot of adults say magic isn’t real but I believe it is. Magic is an ancient practice rooted in rituals, spiritual divination’s, and/or cultural lineage—with an intention to invoke, manipulate, or otherwise manifest supernatural forces, beings, or entities in the natural world.
Supernatural magic is a little more believable to certain people because a lot of movies, shows, books, and antique shops have things that are associated with supernatural things or things that are haunted; such as Annabelle, The Conjuring, The exorcist (1973), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Haunting in Connecticut, Nightmare on Elm Street, and The possession (2012). Those are just some examples of movies that were based on real life events that actually occurred. Some people don’t believe in it because they think the power of God is more powerful than evil. Some people believe in it and try to play with it, which isn’t good idea because people have died trying to mess with supernatural things.
