The night was young, the sky was pitch black, and the wind was cold. The beautiful green, yellow and orange leaves were falling. There was a long dark road with houses decorated roof to ground. Hearing all the kids scream with excitement and fright.
“How long is this going to take? I know I love trick and treating and all, but this neighborhood gives the worst candy,” said Oliver. Oliver was wearing an old mask, a trench coat, and glasses with a small pumpkin bag. Oliver was short with curly red hair, and he had big boots.
“I just wanna go home, Oliver. I don’t like being out this late, you know I hate the dark. You know mom doesn’t like it either, especially after what happened to her when she was younger,” said June. June had a hoodie, jeans, blond hair, and sneakers.
“But my candy is crappy. It’s only twisters, good and plenty, and thin mints,” said Oliver looking in his bag. June just stares down the long road. Oliver nudges June. June glances at Oliver and back at the road.
“Oliver, please let’s go, I beg you let’s go home,” Said June.
“Are you really that scared of halloween? I know mom told us stories but it isn’t that bad. It took me hours to convince you two to let me go. Just a few more minutes, please. This is my first halloween that I’ve gotten to trick or treat,” said Oliver looking at June. June just stares at Oliver paranoid, and scared
Oliver sighs and says “Okay fine”, then starts walking. June starts sifting her eyes around.
“I hate these houses”, said June looking at a house. The house was dark yellow, covered in fake spiders, cobwebs, and had a huge statue in front of it.
“It’s not horrible, but it’s just the statue that scares me the most. I mean look at it, Who’d have that? I agree that the statue is creepy, but the house looks, for the most part, normal” said Oliver. June shakes her head and looks down.
“I hate that house, but I really really hate that statue. It just makes me uncomfortable,” said June.
“I’m not scared or anything, but I always feel like it’s going to jump out. It always looks like its eyes are following me. This might be my imagination, While waiting for the bus I turned around. I swear on my life that I saw its eyes look away from me. I know that it does not have a battery, it’s just a statue. It shouldn’t be able to look or move or anything for that matter,” said Oliver staring at the clown. Julie takes a deep breath in and walks across the street to the statue.
“Julie? What in the world are you going to do? Please be careful,” said Oliver, staying on the other side of the road.
“Earlier this evening dad told me to be brave, so I’m going to do something to the statue,” said June, standing in front of the statue. The clown statue was hovering over June with its stretched body. Its back with its protruding spine, and twisted neck. Its limbs were wide and were almost longer than the tree behind it. Its fingers reached the ground. The thing was dressed in a faded black, and white jester outfit. Its smile was from ear to ear with its teeth almost breaking through the bottom jaw.
Its eyes were like baseballs, and its eyelids were slightly ripped. June slowly reaches out her hand to the clown statue. June puts her hand on his arm, and feels how boney it feels.
“Oliver? It feels human,” said June, shaking from fear. June jumps back and starts running.
“RUN OLIVER RUN!!!! JUST RUN!!!!” said June running down the road.
