On Monday, January 2nd, 2023, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin was injured after a tackle made in the first quarter of Monday night’s game. Damar had taken a hit to the chest while tackling Cinncinati Bengals player Tee Higgins. The hit sent Hamlin into cardiac arrest, and paramedics rushed the field after he fell. Cpr was administered to the player for over 5 minutes on the field. Hamlin was given oxygen and rushed to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center 10 minutes away from the stadium.

Damar Hamlin currently remains in intensive care but is making a good recovery according to the Buffalo Bills. The game against Cincinnati is currently canceled, and no current plans to start the game again have been made. The NFL has not discussed whether or not the Buffalo Bills planned game against the New England Patriots will be postponed for a later date.
