Greenbrier West Volleyball – Regionals & States

Mackenzie Wingrove, Writer

On Nov. 6, 2021, our Greenbrier West Volleyball team traveled to Charleston Catholic to compete in Regionals. Their first game was against James Monroe where the girls won after playing five sets. They won the first, third, and last set with scores of 25-8, 25-18, and 15-4. Directly after that game the ladies were going up against Charleston Catholic. Despite the girls being exhausted, they won against Charleston Catholic after playing 4 sets; making them regional champions.

On Nov. 12, 2021, the West Volleyball girls went to states to compete for the state title. Their first game was against Gilmer county in a single elimination. Unfortunately, the girls lost the first 3 sets with very close scores. That ending their 2021 season. Cindy Nutter said she believes this is the best her girls have played in states so far. With the season ending, the volleyball team has lost four great seniors including Kenzie O’dell, Natalie Agee, Brooke Nutter, and Loren Hanna. We wish the seniors luck as well as the incoming and returning girls playing next year. We’re all proud of your hard work throughout this year, congratulations ladies!
