GWHS Pet Grooming: Meet Dango!

During fourth period, Greenbrier West’s agriculture program has a pet grooming class. After taking and passing tests on dog breeds and grooming techniques, students in this class get the opportunity to wash pets, trim their nails, and shave/trim their fur. Before a pet is brought in, the students must make sure that it meets the requirements of having all their shots up to date and having previously been to a groomer. Then they have to prepare for the grooming by making sure that the towels and wash tub are clean and ready to go, along with getting out all of the materials that they will need, such as shampoo, trimmers, nail trimmers, and dryers. After all that, they’re ready to go!

Pets can be brought in on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays to be groomed. They can be dropped off in between 7:30 am and 10:30 am, then they can be picked up in between 11:30 am and 3:00 pm. The length of the pet’s visit depends on how much

the owner asks to be done along with the length of the pet’s fur. If the pet is only being washed and dried it should take about 30 minutes, but if the pet is having it’s nails trimmed, it can take 45-50 minutes.

The prices of these services depend on the size of the pet and what was done with it. Bathing a small pet only costs $9.00, whereas a medium pet costs $12.00 and a large pet costs $15.00. Nail trims are an extra $5.00, shavings are $10.00 and trimmings are $5.00.
