On Friday, October 23rd, 2020, the Greenbrier West football team went head-to-head with the Sherman Tide for the 2020 homecoming game. It was a great game to watch, both teams had a few mess-ups but Greenbrier West managed to come out on top with a final score of 41-14. The two teams played a close game in the first half and it looked as if the Tide might pull through, but our Cavaliers showed us just why they have a 7-0 winning streak and came back to life in the 2nd half. They remain the only team in the state to have this win-streak as well as becoming the only team with an 8-0 season.

This night was special for a lot of people. Our JV and Varsity cheerleaders got the chance to cheer together at a game for the first time and at halftime, we celebrated the girls representing their classes on the homecoming court. However, with Covid regulations in place, this year was different than previous homecoming nights. The girls were not allowed to have escorts and walked across the field by themselves while wearing masks and social distancing. They were also the only students aside from the family members of football players, cheerleaders, and band members that were able to attend the game (although the hill behind the field was harboring a some of the more determined students).

The girls on the 2020 Homecoming Court were

Freshman: Cerenity Donaldson and Kayleigh Goins

Sophomores: Madison Winfrey and Allison Dunn

Juniors: Hailey Vaughan and Kenzie O’Dell

Seniors: Brooklynn Griffith, Logan Vandall, Amberlie Wilson, Kaylee McClung, and Lauren Burke

As all of our seniors this year were beautiful people on the inside and out, it was difficult to choose between them all. But, by the end of the night, Logan Vandall was deservedly crowned our 2020 Homecoming Queen.
