2020 Theater Auditions

Students reading scripts for the audition.

Theater is always awesome, but recently it was a special kind of awesome. We had auditions for our show, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. The play is about four siblings who enter a fantasy world called Narnia and find out that they were prophesied to save that world. Each of us tried out for a number of different characters. There was a bunch of people who wanted to be Susan, there was an amazing Mr. Tumnus performance, a bunch of Lucy’s, an interesting Aslan and a surprisingly good Father Christmas.

I didn’t expect it to be as fun as it was, and I was actually really nervous. A lot of other people were too, but it wasn’t as bad as we thought. We did a few group readings of some short scenes, and everyone wasn’t perfect, but that’s what made it special. We had fun. Eventually we chose three lines to read of the character we wanted to be, and it would be just us alone on the stage performing those lines.

Once everyone had run through their respective lines, Kierstin (our director from Greenbrier Valley Theater) told us to do certain parts in different scenes. Sometimes it was only two people and other times it was a group effort.

I really liked auditions, and I really love theater.

10/10 would audition again.
