Health Benefits of Martial Arts

Martial arts can benefit your body in every way possible, if you put the required amount of effort in. Martial arts trains the body’s cardiovascular fitness and tones the muscles, with an added bonus: it also improves flexibility, range of motion, coordination, and balance- a perfect sport and hobby for a student. 

Jiu-Jitsu, the art I (Kaden McMillion) train in, is a close-quarter combat style, similar to wrestling but with more variety. The basic objective of Jiu-Jitsu is to target the human body’s weak points and take advantage of your opponent in close quarters and prevent them from doing harm. 

There are multiple areas to train and participate in martial arts, but I recommend two: Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu in Lewisburg at 8488 Seneca Trail and Stellar Jiu-Jitsu, also in Lewisburg at 3942 Davis Stuart Rd. Both of these academies are filled with wonderful people and have incredible teachers, so I recommend you check them out if your interested.
