Wellness Week Kickoff

Wellness+Week+Kickoff

We kicked off Wellness Week with Mrs. Arp introducing the students of the GWHS wellness team. First off, we met our new peer recovery coaches: Abby Tharp, Alexis Sloan, Alyssa Synder, and Aaliyah Painter. They talked about how their purpose isn’t to counsel students, their purpose is to help students with any trauma, so they can get through it. The principal, Amy Robertson, put on a video about vaping and how it is not safe. The video had teens our age talking about how it’s addictive, that there is no water in the vapes at all. When you hit an E-Cig, not all the chemicals come out when a smoker exhales the smoke: it actually travels through the body. Mrs. Robertson warned students that vaping has caused many deaths, already. According to Ghinai I, Pray IW, Navon L, et al. (2019) there has been an outbreak of lung injuries related to vaping and E-Cigs.
