What is the ASVAB?

ASVAB stands for Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. It is a multiple choice test administered by the military, used to see how you personally would best qualify for the Armed Forces. The ASVAB test covers many basic topics such as General Science, Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Auto and Shop Information,Mathematics Knowledge, Mechanical Comprehension and Electronics Information.

When going in to take your test you are given a test  booklet, pencil, scrap paper, and answer sheet. Before you start your test you are instructed to fill out some basic information about yourself, which takes about 30 minutes. Then, you will start your test.

The test is broken up into 9 timed sections. Personally I had plenty of time to finish. You shouldn’t be  worried about taking the ASVAB. Although, if you do fail the test and want to pursue a career in the Armed Forces, you have  retake it at your nearest Military Entrance Processing Station.
