FAFSA

The first semester is coming to an end and seniors are starting to feel the stress. It’s time to fill out FAFSA. Most of the seniors who are planning to go to college have either filled out or started to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA.) But, perusal, there are some that haven’t looked at it or don’t even know what it is.

FAFSA is the form that families fill out to apply for federal grants, loans, and work-study funds for college students. Based on your financial need, based on the information you supply on your FAFSA, will determine your eligibility for federal grants and federal loans. You won’t have to pay off the federal grants, but the federal loans you do.

The purpose of the FAFSA application is to see if you qualify for financial aid, which will help tremendously. It might seem like it takes forever to fill out, but it’s something you need to do if you are planning on attending college. So seniors, make sure to have it filled out and submitted by March 1st if you want to qualify for Promise and the WV Higher Education Grant.
