On October 12, 2018, Greenbrier West’s former homecoming queen, Katie Helmick, crowned the new 2018-19 homecoming queen Amanda Church. One of the sweetest, kindhearted people known, Amanda was in awe when awarded the crown that night.

Here is a brief interview with Amanda:

Jewelia: How did you feel about becoming homecoming queen?
Amanda: I was surprised but yet very happy.
Jewelia: What’s your favorite thing about Greenbrier West?
Amanda: There are many great things about Greenbrier West: the friends I’ve made and the smiling faces of the teachers and staff.
Jewelia: Were your friends happy for you?
Amanda: Yes, I believe were happy for me. During homecoming, my friends and volleyball team stood along the fence cheering for me, and even had a confetti cannon to let off if they called my name.
Jewelia: Was your family happy for you?
Amanda: My family was very happy for me, many of my family members came to watch and were all very supportive.
