Christmas Parade

Christmas+Parade

Over the weekend, on December 2, some of the students from Greenbrier West including the Greenbrier West marching band took part in the Rainelle annual Christmas parade. The parade went from the Armory, down Main Street, turned on 12th street and went down Greenbrier Ave. down to the fire department.

There were many different displays throughout the parade ranging from bands, fire trucks, cops, tow trucks with inflatable Christmas displays like Santa and penguins and also cars with an angel on top.

After the parade, I talked to some of the kids that were in the parade and some who watched it. and most of them liked the parade and some were sad that this might be their last parade together.

I asked Kendall Hammons, a senior band student at Greenbrier West who replied,”I love marching with all of my band members. They are like family to me. Though I was sad that it was my last marching performance with them, it was well spent. I love each and every one of them.”

Some of the others responded including Julie Agee and Aaliyah Painter.:

“Our band performed very well,” said Julie Agee, “It was a great experience even though it was pretty chilly outside. It was great to feel like a part of the community and make all those people smile again.”

Aaliyah Painter said, “Being in the parade is a very fun and amazing experience. We got to see everyone’s smiling and cheering faces as you go by. Even when you march a mile and start getting tired getting tired you still get a good feeling when you see everyone around you look so happy and in the holiday spirit it makes all the pain worth it.”

The community were not the only ones proud of our band. Greenbrier West gives a big thumbs up to our Marching Cavaliers.
